About Valency

Valency Systems is a small, dynamic team of engineers, scientists, and researchers building the global hub for the agentic research era.

We're based in Berkeley, California, and we're building something that matters. If you care about open science, advancing research at the speed of thought, and using AI to accelerate discovery, we'd love to talk.

As an intern, you'll be fully in-office 5 days a week over the summer — a great way to immerse yourself in the team and get the most out of your experience.

The Role

Your job is to make academic researchers stop scrolling. That is harder than it sounds. This audience is discerning, can be skeptical of marketing, and will likely dismiss content that does not feel credible. The content style at Valency is not polished brand campaigns; it is demo-driven, technically honest, and earns trust before it asks for anything.

You will own Valency's social presence and be responsible for packaging what our technical teams produce into content that travels. You will also create original short-form demos that show Bond in real research workflows. This is a builder role, not a scheduler role.

What You'll Do

  • Create short-form video demos (2–4 minutes) showing Bond MCP in action within realistic academic research workflows such literature reviews, data queries, paper synthesis

  • Manage Valency's LinkedIn, YouTube and BlueSky presence with a posting cadence tuned to the academic calendar taking into account conference cycles, paper submission deadlines, preprint seasons

  • Build and maintain a content calendar aligned to major academic events

  • Repurpose and distribute content produced by the CEO and Head of Science across social channels. These can include tutorials, demos, blog posts

  • Test content formats and topics systematically; track engagement metrics and report on what is working with academic audiences specifically

  • Occasionally produce written content (LinkedIn posts, short threads) that positions Valency as a credible voice in AI tools for research

Who You Are

  • You understand research culture from the inside. You understand and can anticipate what makes a researcher scroll past a product demo versus lean in

  • You are comfortable producing video content without a production team; basic editing skills (CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar) are enough. Authenticity matters more than polish here

  • You are opinionated about what makes content land with a technical, academic audience and can explain your reasoning

  • You have some familiarity with LinkedIn, YouTube and BlueSky as platforms for professional and research community content

  • You can work with a content calendar and maintain a consistent publishing cadence without being chased

Your Academic/Research Experience:

  • You come from a research-driven discipline: STEM, social science, or another field with a demonstrated technical interest

  • You have hands-on experience in academic settings either as a TA, lab researcher, or in a role where you navigated the research and publishing process firsthand

We need someone who has lived the researcher experience and can make content that reflects it authentically.

Show Us Your Work

We want to see what you've created:

  • Social accounts you've run

  • Video content samples

  • Campaigns or projects you've worked on

What You'll Get

You'll work alongside founders and senior team members, not in a silo. Ship real work that matters. Learn building a dynamic company to support open science and agentic research. Experience startup culture with learning sessions and cross-team exposure. You'll interact with interesting academics and researchers from across many disciplines.
