Job Overview

The Prep Cook role is responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and supporting the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations. This role reports to the Sous Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items following established recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure consistency in flavor, presentation, and portioning for all dishes.
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to maintain freshness and safety.
  • Set up and stock workstations with necessary ingredients and supplies before service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned stations throughout shifts.
  • Monitor ingredient levels and communicate shortages to supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Follow instructions from kitchen leadership and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff to maintain kitchen standards and efficiency.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Follow all MHRG company policies, procedures, and safety protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Perform efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment while maintaining food quality.
  • Adapt to menu changes, special requests, and last-minute adjustments as needed.
  • Assist with prep work, station coverage, and additional tasks assigned by management.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and complete company-assigned training.
  • Maintain uniform standards and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
  • Adhere to a reliable work schedule and perform duties safely.
  • Perform other tasks, including cross-training in different areas, as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous restaurant kitchen experience preferred.
  • Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Commitment to quality safety, service, and food and beverage knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of various cooking & food prep techniques and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • Flexible schedule helpful.
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate required.
  • Valid State Alcohol Server Certificate required.
