Position Summary
The Food Expeditor acts as the crucial link between the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure that all dishes leave the kitchen accurately, attractively plated, and on time. This role requires exceptional communication, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate communication between the kitchen and serving staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders.
- Inspect dishes for accuracy, presentation, and portion consistency before they leave the kitchen.
- Manage ticket flow to prioritize and organize incoming orders efficiently.
- Ensure that hot food stays hot and cold food stays cold until served.
- Communicate any delays, issues, or special requests to servers and kitchen staff promptly.
- Assist with garnishing and final plating touches as directed by the chef.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the expediting station.
- Monitor and restock necessary supplies (plates, garnishes, condiments, etc.).
- Support teamwork and smooth service during peak periods.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant, preferably in a kitchen or front-of-house coordination role.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills.
- High attention to detail and sense of urgency.
- Ability to stay calm and organized under pressure.
- Basic food safety knowledge and understanding of kitchen operations.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and handle fast-paced environments.
- Knowledge of plating standards and menu items.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen setting.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
Pay Range:
