Ocean Palace is a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant srunning a large waitlist (often 30+ parties during peak) and a busy takeout operation. We’re hiring a Lead Host to own the front door, keep the host stand organized, and lead the team through peak hours with calm, clear control.
This is not a “senior greeter” role. You are the traffic controller for guests, seating, and communication.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and direct a team of 5–6 hosts during peak hours
  • Manage the waitlist (often 30+ parties during peak), quotes, updates, and guest communication
  • Maintain accurate wait times by monitoring table turns and pacing
  • Assign host stand stations (door/waitlist, takeout support) and adjust staffing as volume changes
  • Handle guest escalations professionally (long waits, large parties, complaints)
  • Coordinate with managers and FOH to protect service flow
  • Ensure clean, organized host stand operations (notes, party sizes, seating rotation, VIPs, accessibility needs)
  • Support takeout flow by coordinating handoff/pickup process (without letting it derail the waitlist)
  • Train, coach, and uphold standards for hosts (scripts, policies, accuracy, professionalism)

What We’re Looking For
  • 2+ years in a high-volume restaurant host role
  • Experience handling high-pressure rushes and large waitlists
  • Confident communicator who can be firm, calm, and polite
  • Strong organization and decision-making (no panicking, no guessing)
  • Ability to lead peers and hold standards without drama
  • POS / waitlist system experience preferred (Yelp Waitlist, Toast, etc.)
  • Bilingual a plus (English + Vietnamese, or Chinese/Cantonese)
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Can…
  • Keep control when the waitlist is stacked
  • Give accurate quotes and update guests consistently
  • Run a clean system with multiple hosts
  • Protect the guest experience while keeping the restaurant moving

Physical / Work Environment
  • Standing and walking for long periods
  • Fast-paced, loud, high-energy environment
  • Must be able to handle pressure and stay professional
