About The Opportunity
The Homeward Mortgage Team is responsible for conducting the financial review and approval of every customer that works with Homeward. We’re focused on bringing financial innovations to life and delivering a seamlessly integrated mortgage experience. We are the newest team at Homeward and are looking for subject matter experts and business people with an entrepreneur's mindset and ability to get stuff done.
As part of the team, you’ll be ensuring that Homeward’s customers move quickly and efficiently through the mortgage transaction ensuring all important dates are met. Your role is to deliver a seamless approval and closing experience to every Homeward customer. This position will challenge your ability to manage complex operational processes while working cross-functionally with other teams including product, engineering, and customer experience among others.
What You’ll Do:
- Review, execute and manage loan file registration and lock requests with appropriate investors
- Perform lock desk functions including:
- FNMA and FHLMC Cash window trading and delivery
- Whole loan locks with delegated and non-delegate Investors
- Managing lock confirmations, changes, reprices, and extensions
- Monitor lock expiration dates, pricing accuracy, and investor eligibility
- Process lock change requests, reprice requests, and lock extensions in a timely and accurate manner
- Serve as a subject matter expert for lock desk operations and investor guidelines
- Handle Servicing responsibilities like payoff requests, loan boarding, release of lien processing, customer/title inquiries calls/notifications, and other servicing functions
- Prepare loan files for delivery to Investor and clear purchase conditions from Investors
- Assist in review and preparation of PCCDs
- Proactively identify issues and partner with internal teams to resolve them efficiently
- Take ownership of operational improvements, process documentation, and special projects
- Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment
- Perform other duties as assigned
About You:
- 3+ years of hands-on Lock Desk experience within the U.S. mortgage industry
- Required: Direct experience as a Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Direct Seller
- Required: Demonstrated experience trading and delivering loans through the FNMA and FHLMC Cash Window
- Strong understanding of mortgage industry concepts, loan pricing, investor guidelines, and mortgage loan documentation
- Experience using LendingPad and Optimal Blue strongly preferred
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and lead initiatives when needed
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
