Job Summary

At Carbon Health, we are looking for an experienced Controller who will be responsible for the accurate and timely financial management of the organization. We are at the beginning stages of building a world-class finance team to support the rapid scaling and ongoing transformation of the healthcare experience for patients and providers alike, and you will be a leader in this effort.

Carbon Health operates a multi-entity, multi-state care delivery business with 90+ clinics, and is undergoing restructuring, M&A activity, and international expansion. This role demands a leader who can balance tactical execution with strategic reporting, while navigating complexity and change.

In this role, you will manage all accounting, financial reporting and internal control functions in service of facilitating executive and board level decision-making and strategic planning.

Who You Are

  • Seasoned, analytical, detail-oriented and completely versed in accounting and financial controls and planning

  • A hands-on financial leader who thrives in high-change, ambiguous environments and builds infrastructure while executing under pressure

  • A financial leader who can translate accounting, reporting and controls concepts for senior executive and board consumption

  • Comfortable navigating multi-entity consolidations and supporting compliance under debt covenants and investor scrutiny.

Your Role

  • Managing the accounting function to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial statements, management reports and analysis to internal and external stakeholders

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities and operating structures, including international subsidiaries and JV models.

  • Developing internal control guidelines, policies and processes for budget accounting, cash and credit management, administration, and other activities

  • Supporting key initiatives around budgeting, corporate finance, capital raising, procurement and financial and operational planning

  • Own and manage the 13-week cash forecast process, ensuring integration with operational drivers and debt compliance obligations.

  • Analyzing and recommending improvements to financial and operating performance, accounting policies and management reporting processes

  • Partnering with business leaders to ensure that reporting aligns to their needs and goals

  • Drive automation and system integration across financial systems (ERP, EMR, RCM, payroll), ensuring scale-readiness and reporting integrity.

  • Overseeing internal and external audit and tax functions and coordinating activities with outside audit and tax firms

  • Lead audit readiness for potential M&A activity and ensure reporting processes meet investor-grade expectations.

  • Leading and managing staff, including recruitment, onboarding, development, performance management, and retention

Your Qualifications and Skills (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field

  • Minimum of 5–7 years in a senior accounting or controllership role in operationally complex organizations

  • Strong fundamental grounding in accounting principles and financial controls and reporting

  • Experience in financial management of multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas

  • Proven experience managing consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and legal-entity-level close

  • Experience with implementation or, at a minimum, deep operating understanding of ERP / financial planning systems

  • Experience with NetSuite or comparable mid-market systems preferred

Ideal Qualities (Desired Qualifications)

  • CPA designation

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • Familiarity with clinic-based revenue recognition, cash-based service businesses, or RCM processes is a strong plus.

  • Early-stage, venture-backed company experience

  • Experience in high-growth, venture-backed or PE-backed companies with complex operating models (e.g., multi-site, healthcare, franchising, or hybrid services)

What we offer

  • Forward-thinking, transparent, collaborative and inclusive company culture

  • Competitive salary with full medical, dental, vision, equity and other great benefits
