Tax Analyst at Niantic
San Francisco, CA, US

We are seeking a hardworking, motivated, and driven teammate to join us in our San Francisco office. You will be responsible for supporting Niantic’s global tax operations, including global tax provision, forecasting, planning, compliance, reporting and other special projects. Due to the dynamic and fast-growing nature of the company, you are also detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves. This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Work externally with advisors and auditors on the preparation and review/audit of quarterly and annual income tax provision and related financial statement disclosures in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting, including effective tax rate, intercompany/transfer pricing entries, uncertain tax positions, and footnote disclosures.
  • Lead and review, with external advisors, all federal, foreign, and state income tax returns, including handling audits and inquiries by tax authorities.
  • Prepare/review monthly indirect tax accruals (VAT, GST and sales tax), including partnering with our Revenue Accounting team to streamline process for month-end close.
  • Assist with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filing and related documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with the internal Accounting team and various departments.
  • Prepare/review monthly tax accounts reconciliations.
  • Support preparation of Niantic’s worldwide indirect tax returns (VAT, GST and sales tax)

Qualifications

  • You are either a CPA, or a CPA candidate.
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance with an accomplished academic record.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with income and indirect taxes in either the tax department of a company or in public accounting.
  • You are experienced with Microsoft Excel.
  • You have demonstrated business discernment, and the ability to analyze the costs/benefits of proposed resolutions to tax related problems.
  • You have worked with diverse, cross-functional teams.
