Head of Marketing, Korea at Niantic

At Niantic, we are passionate about real world, social, mobile games that encourage players to go on adventures on foot with others. You will be responsible for growing our player base for all Niantic products, as well as acquiring and maintaining partners / sponsors, mainly in Korea, and in Southeast Asia. You will work closely and collaboratively with Asia Pacific and global members of Niantic’s Marketing and Business Development, external partners / stakeholders (including local governments), and also external marketing / PR agencies.

The ideal person will have a passion for designing and producing impactful experiences that fans remember for a lifetime, and a strong commitment and initiative to achieve that business goal. As someone who works under tight deadlines with internal teams (Product, Operations, and Legal) and external teams (agencies, vendors, and partners), you are an exceptionally organized collaborator (and juggler) who knows how to manage multiple partners to build fun real world experiences for fans/players. This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Product Marketing: Find opportunities for growing the business (number of players, revenue) and take appropriate actions (e.g. build awareness, boost product news/events, increase POIs).
  • Community Management: Improve exposure of Niantic products in SNS, and promote development and activation of user communities. This includes event / meet-up planning and implementation, monitoring / improving Niantic communication in SNS and own media together with marketing agencies where applicable.
  • Business Development: Identify potential partners (i.e. mobile service providers, retailers, convenience stores, city governments, etc.) to jointly promote Niantic games, including collaborative events, and maintain the win-win relationship after acquisition.
  • Keep senior management updated on progress towards achieving live events important metrics.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • 6+ years experience in marketing of IT industry, and/or partner development & management in Korea.
  • Business level communication in Korean & English.
  • Strong familiarity with Pokémon GO and Ingress.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel, including domestic and international.
